Frequently asked questions
Are these real people?
No. The names are drawn from lists of common given names and surnames and combined at random, so any resemblance to a real person is coincidental. That is deliberate — the output is safe to use in examples, demos and test data.
Why do the country options produce different names?
Because naming conventions differ. Each country has its own pools of given names and family names, and the order they are written in varies — some put the family name first. Filtering by country gives you a set that looks plausible for that region rather than a generic mix.
What can I use this for?
Populating a database with realistic test records, filling a design mockup so it does not say "John Doe" everywhere, or generating placeholder participants for a demo. For anything user-facing, treat the names as fictional and say so.
