Random Team Picker
Split a list of names into fair, randomly assigned teams — or draw a random subset for a game. Uses cryptographically strong randomness so the result is genuinely unbiased.
Picking from an arbitrary list rather than a roster? The List Randomizer shuffles anything, and Coin & Dice covers simple calls.
How to use the Team Picker
- 1 Paste the list of names, one per line.
- 2 Choose how many teams to create, or how many people should be in each.
- 3 Pick the teams and review the result.
- 4 Copy the output, or re-pick for a different draw.
How to Use
Paste your names one per line, choose how many teams or how many people per team, and shuffle. Names are shuffled with crypto-grade randomness then dealt round-robin so team sizes differ by at most one.

Frequently asked questions
How are the teams balanced?
Team sizes differ by at most one person, so with 10 names and 3 teams you get 4, 3 and 3. The assignment itself is a fair random shuffle, so no one is systematically placed on a strong or weak team — only the sizes are evened out.
Can I avoid putting certain people together?
Not automatically, and that is worth knowing before you rely on it. If you have fixed pairs or people who must be separated, run the pick and then swap manually — or split the list into groups first and pick within each group.
Is the draw repeatable?
No, and that is intentional: each pick uses fresh cryptographic randomness so nobody can predict or reproduce the result in advance. If you need an auditable draw, note the output immediately, since regenerating gives a different arrangement.
