Password Generator Pro
Generate strong passwords or memorable passphrases with full control over the character set. This pro version adds per-class toggles, character exclusion, passphrase mode, and an entropy readout so you know how much guessing resistance you actually have.
Generate a single password with the Password Generator, or a machine secret with the Random Token Generator. Either way, sanity-check the result in the Password Strength Checker.
How to use the Password Gen Pro
- 1 Choose a mode — a random character string, or a memorable passphrase of words.
- 2 Set the length, or the number of words, and choose which character classes to include.
- 3 Read the entropy estimate to see how strong the result actually is.
- 4 Generate, then copy it straight into your password manager.
How to Use
Pick a mode, set the length or word count, and choose which character classes to include. Generate one password or a batch, then copy.
- Two modes: random character password and word passphrase
- Toggle lowercase, uppercase, digits, and symbols independently
- Exclude ambiguous characters like l, 1, O, and 0
- Live entropy calculation and strength rating
- Batch generation of up to 50 passwords
Frequently asked questions
Should I use a random string or a passphrase?
A passphrase for anything you have to type or remember, such as a device login or a password manager master key. A fully random string for everything else, since a manager stores it and you never need to recall it. Random strings are stronger per character; passphrases are strong enough and far more usable.
What do the entropy bits mean?
They measure the size of the search space an attacker faces, assuming they know how the password was built. Under about 50 bits is weak, 70 is solid, and 100 or more is beyond any realistic attack. Length is the dominant factor, which is why adding characters beats adding symbols.
Should I avoid ambiguous characters?
For anything you will read aloud or type from a screen, yes. Dropping 0/O, 1/l/I and similar pairs avoids transcription errors and costs only a couple of bits. For passwords a manager fills in automatically, keep the full character set.
